Annie Day strikes again for the colours

Annie Day with Jonathan Burke winning again.

What a day for the team in this 2m 3f Mares Handicap at Warwick, a track that has proved lucky for us as a syndicate and one where we had our first winner with My Charity just over 4 seasons ago. Annie takes us to 14 syndicate winners & the party isn't over yet as we improve on our stock each season.

A big thank you to Ben Case and their team as the comeback kid Annie did it again, winning after an injury, this time it was muscle wastage behind, our mare had a serious case of Colic last Christmas and to unflip the stomach she was lunged which caused the issue. The backstory made the day even sweeter, well done to her owners, Jonathan for a superb ride and all at Edgcote, her rehab was no fluke, Annie had water treadmill treatment & intense physio. Annie will run again weather permitting this Sunday 3rd Dec' at Leicester in another mares race over a similar trip.

Many of the winning owners,  2 new owners joined the team, James & David their first ownership runner and a winner....excellent. Congratulations everyone.

More success soon followed again with Jonathan Burke who is becoming a firm favourite this time on Billy Boi Blue with David Kilahena & Graeme  McPherson, we ran a odds on favourite to the line in a deep race at Kempton Park, Billy at odds of 50-1 proved some value for each way backers, now given an opening mark of 116 by the handicapper we are all really excited about this bumper winner, He may well go to Wetherby or Newcastle in a Novice, Saturday the 9th or Thursday 14th, both over 2m 6f. Billy would be seen to best affect on a galloping course, bags of improvement in him still. This gelding was bought cheaply as a 3yo store by Graeme McPherson out of a prolific dam Kentucky Sky, we to have the neice purchased as a foal, a filly by Yeats.

We have our horses spread over various trainers 5 infact, and purchase from different angles, foals, 3 yo stores, off the flat and pointers both English & Irish. there is no magic wand in purchasing you need some luck whoever you are, of course you can maximise your chances with good planning and trusted trainers and agents.

Talking of a trainer with great contacts and that is Olly Murphy who we have Bitsnbuckles our 5yo gelding with, This Stratford based trainer is having a great season, the content from the yard is fantastic, Olly's video blog and news is first class, available on Facebook and his website, Bitsnbuckle has a mark now and is a chaser in the making, picked by Caroline Bailey our ambassador this son of Well Chosen looks like one to keep on the right side of next season over a fence and trip, he needs to gain some more experience, however a very nice prospect for the team.

Bitsnbuckles ran well at Grade 1 track Newbury this month.

Hillfinch couldn't add to her 3 career wins at Market Rasen 23/11/23 I'd draw a line through that run, turned into a 6f sprint which wouldn't suit us, Ciaran knows Hillfinch well and just wanted another horse to come upsides to lite her up a bit more (we were out in front alone) Hillfinch has been a great filly for the team.

Our two 2 year olds are fine, A filly by Yeats and another by Ulysees, the latter would be more forward, things will kick on now next year as they go into full training. It is exciting with these younger horses they really could be anything which includes not being very quick but that is the chance you take and why buying foals and stores isn't for everyone.

Our Wings of Eagles 3 yo (Pic below credit Louis Gill) is going well. Meg the Vet is delighted with him (had a small setback in the summer) and he will be ridden again from now, he has grown is a forward moving type who we have high hopes for, 20% remains...get involved! 07780 607976

Noel Williams reports our 4 yo By Champs Elysees well, look out for her in the not too distant future in a bumper, an owner new to BDR (Chris) popped down to see Noel today. They had  a great morning on the gallops albeit frosty.

Chris in the Noelmobile the warmest place to hang out this morning.

On a sadder note we have retired Shiyrvann, he is fine but his wind just will not stand the pressures of racing, he has been found a good home and will be doing plenty of other pursuits with his new owner, he was one that just didn't go the way we hoped. no guarantees when purchasing race horses. We can at BDR guarantee however we are straight with our owners.
