Billy gives Lilly & BDR a Stephen's Day winner

Happy New Year to everyone,  Christmas was cheered right up with a fantastic win by the BDR gelding Billy Boi Blue, named after an owners son and winner of the Racing TV Open National Hunt Flat Race,  ridden by the inform and widely praised Lilly Pinchin.    Huntingdon 26/12/22

Lilly who gave Billy a super ride on holding ground and this son of Blue Bresil lengthened nicely to beat some expensive and handy rivals, last years winner CRAMBO competed in the weekends Grade 1 Challow Hurdle.

Billy Boi Blue is from a super family and all of his half siblings are winners in bumpers and hurdles purchased by Graeme McPherson as a 3yo store for very sensible money. Given time to strengthen by his patient owners who can now look forward to being represented in some nice races.

A special afternoon with the owners, my own family, Graeme (McPherson) and overseen by the BDR ambassador Mrs Caroline Bailey, Caroline is well respected in racing and we are delighted to have her guidance in all aspects of the racing syndicate.

We had a scare with our mare and recent winner Annie Day who spent Christmas in a Newbury Veterinary Hospital for Colic, Ben Case was on the ball and with swift action it all ended happily and Annie is grand and safely home, We saw Mr Case who is a fine fellow at Warwick where he had a winner, not so good for the Stuart Edmunds trained BDR mare MISS MCGUGEN she was pulled up after a circuit and maybe sulked as she couldn't get her own way in front.

Our black type winning mare HILLFINCH couldn't handle the awful ground on the hurdle track at Leicester, she didn't go a yard in hock deep ground and I think we can draw a line through that run. All I am happy to report are sound after their efforts.

Dual winner for the Fakenham Race Club Allo Allo trained by Stuart Edmunds

Fakenham Racecourse on New Years Day with another huge crowd just like Huntingdon (Boxing Day) both tracks enjoying a great atmosphere and buzz saw the Fakenham Race Club horse Allo Allo win for the second time this season, The FRC I help out with and it has been such fun,  Ben Case and Stuart Edmunds train one horse each for the 100 strong club and I liaise with the members, and provide the link with David Hunter and the board at Fakenham and with the trainers whom I speak regularly both being in house trainers of the BDR syndicate, it is super fun, a great and very lucky group with just the 60% win strike rate this season we all enjoyed a fine day, well done to the members.

Walking up to the paddock I heard a chap say to his friend 'Look its that Jockey who is it' Oh I know replied his friend but I can't think.....Its Richard Johnson isn't it!

It amused me greatly as I chuckled en route to the paddock, I wish I'd have signed his programme now.

Yeats ex Mystic Sky  2yo filly

Caroline Bailey took a look at our now 2 year old 50% eligible GBB filly, The filly is well bred a niece to recent winner Billy Boi Blue and by champion sire Yeats, the dam is a black type 6 x winner of over 80k prize money formally trained by Lucy Wadham, she is doing really well and Mrs Bailey is happy with her correctness and liked the pedigree especially with the Mystic Sky being by Midnight Legend. Just  ONE 5% share remains in her, young horses aren't for everyone and are for the more speculative owner, Let me know if you want the share.

I shall leave you with a super photo from the highly talented photographer Francesca Altoft, I purchased some super images for the website and the mantel piece.
