Review of Runners

Disappointed as anyone regarding lock down 2 about to hit the country, however how can you respond to the argument against it if the government say if we do not the NHS will not be there for all if required.

Lets hope the vaccine comes over the hill like the cavalry to save the day.

It has been a busy week with our runners, I attended both Uttoxeter on Friday and Charlie Hall chase day on Saturday, with several of our owners. Thanks to both courses for their hospitality.

Thursday last week we had 2 runners at Stratford,

ANNIE DAY- travelled well for a circuit and a bit then stopped quite quickly, she pulled up lame and after Jockey feedback and watching back the replay it seems likely she wrapped herself on the hurdle going away from the stands (second circuit) she was attended by the vet and after a few days in the river seems fine and cantered yesterday. We will look at the programme book and go again soon with her.

JOSIE ABBING- back after near 3 months she found a really competitive race for the grade, its tough getting these horses declared with 5 day decs at times swamped with entries. Josie jumped and travelled well take the first two out of it who were well handicapped and she wasn't beaten far, I think she will be likely stepped up in trip, interestingly the 2nd to JOSIE back at Worcester in her bumper the Nicky Henderson trained CRYSTAL GAZING was stepped up to 2m 6f ran a great race and nearly won. Our mare is grand she is tough as teak.

BABY BEN- Tough one to take this, BB lined up in a oddly mid card bumper, with some pricey types from big yards, Look BB has done every head in chest at home, and we all expected a big effort although these are young un-raced untried types its part of the excitement of buying not backed stores is you just do not know what you are going to get- this would've been his first effort at 2 mile, the pace was frantic BB travelled fine and came through nicely in 5th in home turn, then asked for a effort he flatten quick and Tom Bellamy let him come home in his own time, Tom reported his wind caught him out he made a noise and quite obviously couldn't breath properly. Dr. Ben Brain will over head scope him and see what is going on and hopefully BABY BEN will be one of his success stories.

CALUM GILHOOLEY- High profile Saturday meeting and we took some loyal owners up to Wetherby for Charlie Hall Chase day, brilliant card, Calum is a top of the ground horse and after a huge down pour there was discussion to pull him, however the view was he owes the team nothing and deserved to take his chance in this 0-130 contest, over a his minimum trip on ground he hated he finished like a train to be 5th/19. Great effort!

This was a decent grade and Calum continues to improve. He may have one more run then have a mid winter break.

Good news owners can still attend tracks as part if the elite sport to continue pack, although numbers reduced to two and hospitality stopped also time limits on the track.

Better things in store, best one and all and thanks for reading
