Calum Gilhooley impresive at 25-1 at Southwell

Calum Gilhooley getting silver at Southwell

Super run from this lad after some 560 days off the track, Calum was a tiny bit jarred up on the good to firm ground but is sound now, he will be given time as we do not want the bounce factor to come in to play.

Racing is far from a exact science and sometimes horses will surprise you for the better, today was one of those days! We expected Calum to run a OK race but with a competitive enough field and after such a long lay off we wondered if mid division finish would be a good run... but Kielan reported Calum lite up for the track jumped superbly and coming over the last thought we could win. Calum enjoyed himself for sure it was a great first run over hurdles and moving forward I think we can find some winning opportunities for him, the winner (multiple winner on flat in mid 70's) revised handicap mark is 118, so we can expect 117 on that run. We will find out Graemes thoughts this Saturday at the owners day.

Lets hope the BDR open morning will stay dry, a good number are planning to come and I can hear the breakfast sizzling as I write, hospitality at Graeme McPherson's is superb. beautiful location in the heart of the Cotswold's.

Our new store 'Doc El' has been narrowed down to two horses, a Fracas gelding and a gelding by Blue Bresil from a black type mare. We shall see what the vibe is from the team down on the day, we sadly lost Dr. Eldred Williams on the 9th May this year, El was a fantastic man, who many of us really miss, I asked El some time ago if I had his blessing to name a horse after him, I am on the verge now El guide us to the best one!! more of the man and the horse once we get him over the line.

Christian updated us on his BDR horses Josie Abbing has nearly finished her treatment and we shall look for a run for her from the 24th of this month, Annie Day is showing well and Christian thinks she will have the toe for a bumper, we shall have a good scan of the programme book to see what is about, a fillies bumper would be ideal, Roseriver Has is a good worker I am told he will be entered this month so many horses getting going close. can't wait....

Thanks for reading, hope you got some rain, Norfolk is as dry as toast getting desperate situation, corn yield  is poor, beet dying in the fields. This after a incredibly wet winter. extreme is the keyword.
