Baby Ben officially named and investigations with Josie Abbing

Baby Ben already a firm favourite

Horse racing is a fantastic sport, it will absolutely give you some wonderful days and the beauty of syndicates is you share the cost and share the joy with like minded people that become really good friends, however its not for the faint hearted and where there are highs as in all aspects of life there are disappointments too, Sunday at Southwell fell into this bracket with Josie Abbing for reasons that we are not to sure of she just under performed. Christian felt Josie was really fit had done loads at home would be better from the run on the first day of the season again at Southwell.  The fractional timings from Timeform suggest a slowly run race then with a figure of 119% the pace of the last 6 furlongs got much quicker. Did JA just get run off her feet?

So with the above in mind it could well be Josie needs a proper galloping 2 mile or indeed step her up in trip to 2m 4f. She had a rough race also and got buffeted a fair bit and pulled wide with it. Christian was miffed to why and noted that she has breathed quite heavy now after her races which for the work she has done is odd. Yesterday our trainer contacted highly regarded vet Ben Brain to discuss her wind and the possibility to get her assessed, however the Vet said with no noise ever heard it seems unlikely a breathing issue and feels a 3 week course of GastroGuard which I believe is a ulcer treatment maybe to best effect, Josie can now not run for a minimum of 3 weeks and 72 hrs to be precise. Christian will assess her further and we have not ruled out other investigations. off 98 she should be highly competitive, that is a given.

Finally we had a draw on our unnamed 4 yr old, 5 votes for Baby Ben went into the hat, also we had Ask Another One, Ask Another, Ask a Million, Tanui and Peacam, however only one could be used and with five entries Baby Ben which was the yard nick name was drawn. so its official the name is ours. Good luck to him and his owners, Baby Ben is very pleasing on the eye, dong everything well at home and a late autumn debut is the plan.
