BDR open day a huge success

Our new filly meeting her owners and the wider syndicate

Saturday the 12th June was a BDR owners day at Graeme Mcpherson's stables at Martins Hill, Stow on the wold. & what a morning it was.....

35-40 of the team attended for a 8-30 start, We walked into the loop where Graeme greeted the team of owners and some guests and gave a chat about how the day would unfold.

Calum Gilhooley (BDR horse)  joined us with recent winner Sammylou (owned by Mr and Mrs Adams)

We watched them warm up around the loop then canter, it was great to see the horses so close, Ian Piper does the BDR website and with permission from Graeme and the owners filmed the work with his drone, fantastic footage for those owners who could not attend. from there we walked over the road to the gallops and watched recent winner and just beat 2nd BDR horse JOSIE ABBING do a lovely piece of work. She is a nice gutsy mare.

Then the team walked up for breakfast, finely prepared by Graemes cook. Our trainer himself poured the champagne, as the team tucked into rolls, pastries & some lovely cup cakes made by Mrs Sara Panks.

What a real treat, the sun shone, the chat flowed, the day was growing into something quite special.

After a hour in the garden, now refreshed fully Graeme took us around the yard, whilst talking of his summer horses to to us all.

At the top stables we saw some of our youngsters brought in from the fields, BILLY BOI BLUE a 4yr old unraced by Blue Bresil x Kentucky Sky, he has grown since we first bought him last July. He is from a top class family and is a extremely exciting prospect.

Then we saw our recent purchase by Beat Hollow x Tickity Bleue, she is now fully syndicated and those who have read the previous posts will know of the syndicate connection to the dam. This filly is nice, really nice, she has been broken in and everyone is really pleased with her, delighted for her owners and am grateful for the support in their filly and BDR

Doc El was also brought out of his box to meet his owners, he has grown some, has loads of speed in the family he may even be our first all out flat runner, time will tell.

The day was topped off with the Red Arrows giving us a fly by as they headed to Cornwall for the G7 and HM The Queen.

We saw the summer horses discussed some new potential purchases and had loads of fun, MASSIVE thanks Graeme his team for their kindness and making it such a truly magical day.

Recent BDR winner Josie Abbing after her wash down after exercise

Josie Abbing ran another cracker the week before the open day, 3/4 length 2nd she is grand and will be given entries at Newton Abbot, Stratford & Worcester.

Calum disapointed at Market Rasen, he was reported sore behind, he seems better and will be given a entry for Sunday 26th at Cartmel.

Annie Day will leave our pre trainer Fleur Hawes in south Norfolk, she will be trained this season by our new trainer but one with bags of experience CAROLINE BAILEY, we decided to bring the horses closer to Fleur who summers her and more central as owners days at the yard is a integral part of the ownership with BDR.

We look forward to the winter and being represented by Caroline I hope to have news on another purchase that Caroline will train also.

Loads to look forward to, Thanks to everyone and also for reading.
