Southwell and plans beyond

Josie Abbing before her seasonal opener at Southwell July-1st

JOSIE ABBING was sound after her run, Adam Wedge (jockey) reported that he dropped our mare out the back to conserve energy as this was only her second attempt at the longer distance, she jumped well and coming around the final turn drew into contention and Adam felt we could be in the mix, then Josie took a gulp and tired, as alluded to in a earlier blog Josie was there to do her best but we felt there was plenty to work on and she will improve for the run.  Christian will see what the handicapper does on Tuesday and plan from there, however glancing at the fixtures we have a few mares races coming which I think will help her; Jack Tudor can ride from Monday 13th of July he would claim 5 lb which would be a positive as Josie isn't a big mare. Very grateful to Adam Wedge he is a super fella and great to have him ride for the team.

Christian reports that ROSERIVER HAS is stepping up his work, he is not a horse that comes in fat so hopefully we will see him in August for his seasonal appearance, ANNIE DAY we are told is a nice ride, she wouldn't have done huge amounts of work yet but going the right way, seems as though she isn't afraid of a kick or a nibble so we will remember that for owners open day!

On that last point August 15th will be our owners day at Graeme McPherson's it will be great to see our old friends, more on that and McPherson BDR horses later, plenty of work going into the store books  (NH unbroken 3 yr old)
hopefully we can find another lovely store for the future, a lovely story behind our latest store target
'Doc El' a great man, look out for a feature post on him the man, the horse the story.

Superb live Q and A on Facebook from Graeme last week , our unnamed 4 yr old got a lovely mention worth a catch up the video is still posted if you missed it.

Hope you enjoyed the Derby, keep safe and thanks for reading.
